I have been rearranging all of my video files, and I found this one taken back in May 2002 in Columbus, OH. Ryan, 7 years old in the video, was acting like a hyper active 7 year old. Ryan was always trying to figure out how to be a little more absurd. I took this video, and I said to him, “I can’t wait to show you this when you are 15 years old.” Here it is 2009, and unbelievable as it sounds, Ryan is now 15 years old.

Now that we are in the digital age, it is really fun and easy to see how much children change over time. Whereas us adults, we are basically the same. Well, maybe in Ryan’s case, he hasn’t change that much. Just kidding. Actually, Ryan will be 15 in October, but close enough. Teddy’s second birthday party was held in our home in Myrtle Beach, SC. Solange bought an inflatable castle for the kids to play in. At the same time, Brazil played the United States for the soccer championship called the Confederate Cup. Brazil won 3-2 in a very exciting match. Every one had a great time, and here is some video of the event.

The theme of the party was Spiderman, and the food was delicious and the cake was especially memorable. More »

Teddy just turned one year old so as in Brazilian tradition, Solange threw a big party for him for his first birthday. Then we invited quite a few people to partake in the celebration. Now that we are in the digital age, we had quite a few digital cameras filming the festivities. Teddy had a ball, but then toward the end of the party, Teddy walked for the first time in his life. Thanks to all the cameras, two different people caught Teddy taking his first steps. Truly priceless. So I put it all together in a nice little video to commemorate the special moment. More »

I am now 48 years old, and I have just now found one of the greatest pleasures in life. Making a baby laugh. Perhaps it is their innocence, or the true sincerity of the laugh. But it just makes you happy and you almost automatically want to laugh along. We were in one of the nicer Asian restaurants in Rio called Mr. Lam. Solange placed two chopsticks under Teddy’s arms, and he could not stop laughing. I think that we had a better time than all the other people at the restaurant. More »

I just learned that Jeff Nassiff passed away two nights ago. He had a long struggle with cancer. Jeff was a colleague of mine at Gateway from the very beginning. I remembered that I had taken a video when Jeff, RJ and Brad came to visit Myrtle Beach in March 2002. I re-edited the video as a tribute to Jeff. Rest in Peace, Jeff. More »

My father turned 80 on March 27, 2008, and we decided to have a full celebration for him on Saturday March 28, 2008. We all spent the entire day together from lunch to dinner. We are all so busy in our lives that we don’t spend as much time meeting with your loved ones. I put together this video commemorating the occasion. The background music is Kool and the Gang’s Celebrate. I also put in a Ken Burns effect.

Solange has been taking a lot of video of Teddy, so I put them all together in a collage. I hope one day when he is older, he can look back at this video and laugh. When I look back in time at the happiest moments of my life, in many ways, none can compare to this point in time. Teddy + Solange is a terrific formula for me. That’s why I chose one of my favorite songs of all time as the background music. “I Could Not Ask For More”, by Edwin McCain. Sometimes, it is amazing how one song can catch your feelings so squarely. Then I threw in a few titles in Windows Movie Maker and voila. More »

I thought of this video we made last year, as we approach the Christmas season. Every year, they put a large 100 foot, 10 story Christmas tree on the lake where I live in Rio de Janeiro. Each year they decorate the tree with a different and unique Christmas theme with literally millions of blinking lights. People come from all over Rio to view the tree, literally flooding the area with spectators and street vendors. On the last night, they have a spectacular fireworks around the tree. In January 2007, Solange and I visited Cancún, Mexico with my brother, Dave and his family. Perhaps the highlight of the trip was swimming with the dolphins at Cancún’s Wet and Wild Water park. After swimming with the dolphins, there is an options to purchase a DVD. I then ripped the DVD, and put together this video. More »
