The Big Apple

Well after all that hurricane monkey business, things finally returned back to normal for me. Or should I say back to work. Shortly after Floyd, I went back to California to visit a bunch of my old friends in Orange County, plus my grandmother up in LA. Also, popped down to San Diego to visit Ted and the gang at Gateway “West”.

More work in Michigan on my special project PC Pitstop, which is finally starting to get off the ground. And then finally up to NYC, to visit with some old college friends, and also to meet with Tom Grueskin and Barb Gross on our top secret book project.

A very productive month, but probably a little too much work and not enough fun. See you next month.

On a different note, my brother Mike, is adopting Chinese twins.

Hurricane Floyd Comes for my 40th Birthday

Wow, what a month. My friend Tommy Grueskin came down to Myrtle Beach for my birthday, and then all hell broke loose. Or should I say, Floyd broke loose. First there was Hurricane Dennis, but Dennis was nothing compared to Floyd. They called for a mandatory evacuation of Myrtle Beach as forecasters predicted that they eye would pass directly over Myrtle Beach. All banks and grocery stores were closed, buildings were boarded up, and lines of cars were backed up for miles on the city’s major east-west thoroughfares.

So I bolted to Charlotte for an evening, and showed up in Chicago to visit with some old friends attending a huge charity event put on by our good friends on VisionTek. Anyways, I’m glad that Floyd has gone, but the flooding in North Carolina is some of the worst I have seen.

Being Retired

In retrospect, this has been a very light month for both photos and travel. In many ways, I’m glad. Although technically, I’m not working, I’ve been running around quite a bit. I’m not complaining but it was nice to slow down a little bit.

The beginning part of the month found me back in South Dakota for Ted’s annual Pro Am golf tournament for charity. It was another record year and a good time was had by all. I made a quick run to Michigan to work on another investment opportunity and that was it for travel. My parents and my brother Dave’s family visited at the end of the month. We played a ton of golf, but I did get a chance to shoot a few pictures of the kids.
