We are on our first day of a much needed vacation. We are staying at a place called Hotel do Frade which sits on the beach but also has a golf course which nestles against the mountains. I woke up early and decided to run the golf course TWICE. I am not sure how far I ran but I am estimating between 10-11 miles. Then we went swimming in the hotel pool. Later, we went bike riding on the golf course for about an hour. It was a good full day and a great start to the vacation.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone! No matter how I look at 2009, it was a tough, tough year, but that said, there is still so much to be thankful for. We made it back to Myrtle Beach in mid December, and it was very hectic. On top of that, December 29th, is also Jesse’s birthday. So to commemorate all the the things to be thankful for, I decided to have a nice photo shoot of me and my wonderful family. The pictures turned out great.

Hey Rob –
Just taking a break and cathcing up . . . great to see your family. Scott and I now have 2 (Harrison is 3 1/2 and Lila is 1 year). Crazy how much children add to your life! Hope things are going well for you. Take care.

Man Oh Man. I have been working harder than I can ever remember. I am a man on a mission to finish a huge project sprinting to the finish line. When I want to, my focus can be amazing and singular. I really hope that I can look back at this period, and be amazed at how much work I got done.
Despite all of that, I decided to take a lightening vacation to NY with my family. We arrived on a Friday and went to the Statue of Liberty. We woke up the next day, and grabbed a train from Grand Central to Pleasantville NY to visit my cousin, Nancy and her family. My other cousin, Larry, was also kind enough to join us for the train ride from NY to Pleansantville. We spent the night in Pleasantville, and early the next afternoon, we took the train back to NY. Then we hit Central Park. Amazingly enough, in my entire life, I had never been there. We found the little kid’s amusement park on the south end of the park. We spent the afternoon there, and caught a flight back to Myrtle Beach that night. Wow! That was a lot. But now it is back to work.

I live in New York but still have never been to the Statue of liberty. Did they open it up again? I heard they closed it after 911.

Last Sunday, Solange, Teddy, Jesse and I made the drive to Recreio to visit our friends Katia and Jason Elliott. Recreio is night and day different than the hustle and bustle of Rio and Lagoa. We went to a churrascaria close to their house that also had a small playground for children. The food was great and the kids had a great time playing together. I took a ton of photos with my new camera, mainly of the kids.

This was a totally impromptu photo session. Solange’s sister, Sandra, came running into the room with a large photography light. Next she started clicking pictures like mad. My and Solange’s hair are both a total mess! We had no idea what we were doing, but we just went with it.
We had a lot of fun, and then I messed around with Paint.net to see how much I could change the feel of the photos. Some of the colors turned out a little different because of the light, and then I downloaded some filters to sharpen and soften the photos for different effects. If you have not tried out Paint.net it is free and it is awesome.
